At Auchinleck academy we recognise that the use of the Internet in school significantly benefits learning and teaching in all areas of the curriculum. It can allow access to information and its use is an opportunity for pupils to gain skills in Information Technology which will be of benefit to young people both during their school career, in Further Education and in World of Work.

Rules for using the Internet and e-mail:

Do not use e-mail which includes offensive language or pictures; which contains false information; which is sexually or racially offensive or in any way abusive or defamatory.

Do recognise other peoples rights, including the right to privacy and to be free of harassment. Only use your own password. Do not impersonate any other person when sending e-mail.

Do not access material which is pornographic, racist or violent.

Do not use the Internet to conduct personal business or to search/download material which is not relevant to your studies.

Do not cause damage to any computer or Network. Do not create or upload computer viruses.

Do not violate copyright laws, access or alter any other person's material.

Remember that all Internat activity will be monitored by the authority. E-mail should be polite and able to be read without offence by an network user.

Always report to a member of staff anything on your computer which you think should not be there.

Always report to a mamber of staff if you receive messages which make you uncomfortable - never reply to such messages.

Never read information of a personal nature, or arrange meetings with contacts on the Internet. Do not subscribe to any group or society without specific permission from a member of staff.
