SUBJECTS ON OFFER
are available as:

Standard Grade Courses

Standard Grade courses are available to pupils of all abilities. In most subjects, there will be three different levels: Foundation, General and Credit.

Foundation level is the basic level, General level caters for pupils in the middle range of ability and Credit level is the most demanding and difficult.

In some subjects, pupils aiming at different levels may be taught together and may have to learn and/or do some of the same things. This is all part of the Standard Grade ideal.

A pupil may be aiming at different levels in different subjects, depending on his/her ability or aptitude in each subject.

Assessment: Grade for classwork and final awards made by the Scottish Qualifications Authority are on a single scale as follows:

Bands 1 and 2
Credit level
3 and 4
General level
5 and 6
Foundation level
7
Course completed

At examination time, pupils normally sit papers at two adjacent levels i.e. Credit and General or General and Foundation.

Dependent on demand and availability of staff, we hope to offer all the subjects shown.

At the end of S4 there is a progression route in all the subjects offered into the National Qualifications programme. The normal linkage is as follows:

Credit - Higher
General - Intermediate 2
Foundation - Intermediate I

National Qualification Courses

The National Qualification Courses available to pupils are as follows:

Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Intermediate 1 level

Woodworking Skills at Intermediate 1 and 2 levels

Auchinleck Academy 2005
