Improvement Planning Group
Review of Improvement Planning
Our system of improvement planning has over the last 7 years provided
an effective mechanism to deliver a programme of change across the complete
spectrum of the curriculum. It has provided rigour to our practices
and has an in-built accountability to both our parents and East Ayrshire
Council. The system works well. It takes account of the National Priorities
and, without doubt, provides clarity of direction. So why change it?
The McCrone report has overhauled the structure of promoted posts and
introduced the concept of collegiality. Our planning cycle must take
account of this. We must attempt to involve all our staff and our stakeholders
in a meaningful way in the identification of priorities for the coming
session(s) and in so doing further enhance the levels of ownership
of the resultant initiatives. Some may feel that our present system
of decision taking is more than adequate in achieving grades. However
complacency is dangerous! This is a time to take stock, to listen to
the views of our staff, children and parents and then move the agenda
forwards.
Please take the opportunity to comment on our improvement planning process
using the appended list of questions to guide you in the completion
of the response form. We would be delighted to hear from you. The form
can be downloaded and completed. Returns to the school office by 17th
February 2004.
Thanks for your help!
